Logo development

I have been developing Indias logo. We both feel that there is something not quite right with the current one. India in particular doesn't like the hands, so I asked her draw out some more for me to experiment with. I tried various different layouts and asked her opinion.

India has also given me some colour schemes to work with. I began by making some swatches and applied them to the logos to see how they work.

Together we both decided that the current logo that I have designed isn't quite right, so I have asked her to rewrite her signature, this time by hand in an attempt to reflect the handcrafted style of her work.

I have vectored her new signature and added the new hands, however India prefers the signature as it stands alone without the hands. I also put together a simplified version of the logo which inclues just her initials. She has decided that she likes both of these, the whole signature to be used as the main logo and the initials to be used as a kind of crest or signature for her work.

One issue we came across was that the 'I' may be misread as an 'L'. I tried some variations to make it more readable, but they don't work as well aesthetically. We decided to keep the original 'I' and that in context people will be able to read it accurately.

The final logos. I have kept true to the original signature as much as possible, but have tweaked the spacing and alignment to neaten it up.
