India Rose Bird branding

Today I met with India to discuss the kind of thing that she wants in terms of her branding.

The initial main things that I am going to produce are, her logo, business cards, publications to be distributed at the end of year shows, packaging for mail outs and compliments slips. I have also considered possible stationary, such as invoices and letterheads.

I have decided that I will leave her web presence up to her, as all she really wants is a blog, and as I am a print based designer it would be more appropriate to stick to the original range that I have proposed.

I began by going through some existing businesses cards to get a feel of what India likes and what she wants from her branding.

PICS OF BUSINESS CARDS

She said that she wants her whole name, India Rose Bird in her logo, which is pretty long so might propose a problem, but she said that she wouldn't mind shortening it down to initials which is worth considering.

She also sent me some contextual references to the kind of thing she likes.

Stacey Rozich is an illustrator that India brought to my attention. Her work is inspired and influenced by ancestral folk lore and elements of modernity and surrealism, which is rather similar to the work India produces. India particularly likes her logo, but there are elements from her branding that I think that I can bring over to this project, such as the use of small geometric shapes, and simple splashes of colour over a mainly white dominated design.

Abby Seymour is a printmaker, illustrator and jewellery maker. India particularly likes her use of materials ans swing tags she uses. I love how she packages her prints, and even down to how she photographes her work. Keeping to the earthy colour palette and splashes of colour would really suit Indias work. I love the embossing into leather, although this would be too expensive and high end for Indias branding. The mail out tubes are very appropriate though, especially the idea of incorporating the illustrations into the packaging design.
